Day 165

TGIF. Left from Texas City for Kyla's Birthday Weekend in the HIll Country. Drove 6 hours and sometimes in the rain to Boerne. Ate supper at the Dodging Duck. Delicious meal of gazpacho soup, cheese and apple platter and grilled veggies on wild rice. Excellent! Photo is of an interesting fence that caught Doug's eye in Boerne. Headed another 12 miles to the Tapito Resort. Squared away and met Jim and grandmother Chris, Sterling, Seth, Amber, Kyla and Amber's cousin from California! After baby retired we played poker until midnight!

Day 164

Bermuda Beach is a mess. It has yards and yards of sargassum washed ashore. And it smells. However, the birds love it! It must have all types of tiny organisms and feed for them. After our campbells tomato soup this evening, we loaded up my Nitro for one more trip to the storage unit in Austin this weekend. We will be passing through on the way to my granddaughter's first birthday party!

Day 162

After a wonderful day in Bandera taking care of business, we met Tammy at Pipe Creek Elementary and visited with her and two of her teacher friends. Then we began the journey back to the Island stopping in Boerne for tex mex at The Chaparrell. Traveled the back way through Seguin, Yoakum and Bay City before arriving in Freeport and taking Surfside and the San Luis Pass to West Beach in Galveston. We totally avoided most of highway 10 and all of highway 45 which was a good thing.

Day 161

After educating students at Texas City ISD, it was off to a rendevous in the Texas Hill Country. We arrived in Bandera for dinner at Brick's Cafe and made it to Tammy and Jeff's before dark. They had just rescued a baby raccoon before we arrived. We discussed the baby maybe named Ricky Raccoon and played with all their new kittens. Enjoyed a wonderful evening in their western lodge ranch in Medina.

Day 160

Back to the Monday work week. Hit the donut shop on Stewart Street for a blueberry crunch cake donut. After school, headed to AT&T to replace the charger I lost this past weekend. Came home to damp, gusty winds and a newly replaced AC unit at the beach house. Ahhhhh. Doug surprised me and took me to the restaurant at Moody Gardens Hotel for lobster bisque and crab and avocado salad. Yum.

Day 159

Happy Mother's Day in the HIll Country! Doug and I, Seth, Amber and Kyla met her maternal grandmother and friend, Jim and his stepmother, Velma in Johnson City for a Mother's Day Brunch at the Silver Creek Restaurant off 281. It was a lovely affair that involved chocolate strawberries, rose corsages and presents. We left about 4 pm for the drive home to the beach house. Arrived after 8 to a very happy kitty cat.

Day 158

Leaving the beach to go outlet shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!! Took Kyla on her first shopping trip with Mommy and Grandma Bray to the outlet malls in San Marcos. Spruced up her wardrobe with more than a dozen new summer outfits for play and sleep by Carter and OshGosh. Bought a special pink dress with a rose on the front for the big Mother's Day luncheon tomorrow. Met twins that were the same age while out shopping. Ate lunch at the new Grill and Bistro then let Grandma and Mommy buy themselves a new outfit. Back in Kyle for a late 4:30 nap. Anxious for homemade pizza for supper.
