I woke up in a stilt house on the middle of Galveston Island. Slept on three waffle mattresses on the floor. The beach house is furnished so we had the brilliant idea of storing all our furniture this past weekend. Played hookie from school and spent the day with Doug moving stuff and more stuff into our beach house. The wind was strong enough to push me up the stairs as I brought in useless treasures. I swear I'm only making one more move!!!!! This year at least! Ha!
Chris Botti's smooth jazz was the perfect accommodation to the rolling waves outside. The surf was an easy five foot with the southeast winds of 20-30 mph. Aren't you impressed that I know this coastal info? A few diehards were on the beach, but not for long. Of course, it rained on and off all day and it is pelting as I write. I am only allowed to move on 105 degree days in the summer or driving rain in the winter. No exceptions.
Photos will be posted when I'm not so tired. Two highlights of the day were waving to the coast guard helicopter as it buzzed the beach houses and watching the towtruck get stuck in the sand as it brought one of Doug's vehicles to it's new parking spot.
Signing off now for I really think the entire house just moved from the wind. Maybe I should go look outside and see if the ocean is underneath us!!!!!!
