tried to drive down the sandy street to the road and we HAD to stop and pick up shells. Our newest occupation is drive shelling. It was low tide after two days of storms. Gigante mussel/clam shell still in bivalve form. Then off to Waffle House for a quick breakfast. Headed into Houston for shopping and lunch at Joe Lee's in Kemah. He has the best Fabulous Fish Sandwiches in the area. Stopped off at the Glass Mermaid for inspiration. Going to take old George Washington statue and hot glue shells to him verrrrrry soon.
Drove over to San Leon to see the blue/green convour parrots that are "wild in the streets" there. Back to the island for a one hour bicycling excursion on the beach. There was literally no wind to face and it was a perfect day for cycling. We continued our drive shelling method on bicylces. Found a huge moon shell and many angel wings.
Left the beach house at 6 pm in order to make the 6:30 Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade. This is Galveston's largest parade that winds up on the Strand. Crowds were thick and the bead throwing was intensive. I was barely walking with dozens of beads around my neck. Beautiful and well decorated floats had revelers chunking bags of beads at bystanders. Crazinesss. Enjoyed a foot long hot dog and wine at Baccus. Later, stopped at Murphy's Irish Pub for Bailey's Coffee. Home about 10 to catch a few Olympic moments.
I enjoy reading about all your adventures. You missed the 10 inches of snow we got last Thursday. We've used our 2 bad weather days again!
ReplyDeleteYou know I almost feel bad about missing the 10 inches of snow. It would have made great photo ops. But it got to 70 degrees here on the island yesterday...and we ate outside on the deck and pinched ourselves that life is a beach! .....yes, I love to see your paintings. Keep it up! Miss U!
